THE PLAN
At this time, Allié and Angie’s training for the Philadelphia Marathon and Rothman Orthopaedics 8K is being documented, capturing the personal wins and losses experienced along the way. Allié’s treatment for MS at the Memorial Healthcare Institute for Neuroscience with Dr. Robert Pace will also be filmed.
In October, we will kick off our National MS Society fundraising campaign, releasing previews of the film in the making to raise awareness and funds for MS research, programs, and services. At this time, we will also be filming personal stories of those living with MS in Los Angels, CA with actress, Nicole Pedra, in Owosso, MI with advocate Fox Rigney, and in Paris, France with artist Demit Omphroy.
On November 24th, Angie will run the Philadelphia Marathon (26.2 miles). Allié will run the 8k (4.97 miles) the day before. Both races will be filmed with commentary capturing the full experience, as Nicole, Fox and Demit join Allié and Angie at the finish line in Philadelphia to celebrate this journey.
Once production is complete, Because I Can will be made available for community screenings to support both local and national MS research and support programs. The film will also receive international exposure in the 2025 film festival circuit with submissions to Tribeca, Cannes, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), New York Film Festival (NYFF) and the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), prior to exploring distribution via Netflix or Hulu.
